In 2017 and as part of the Federal Governments investment into South Australia’s deference capability, Australian Naval Infrastructure (ANI) Pty Ltd was established to facilitate the development and construction of new infrastructure at the Osborne shipbuilding facility. The secure facility is located in Adelaide’s north, and was completed in April 2020 after a tight 18 month program. Our Construction Team were engaged to undertake and deliver the full Electrical, Communications and Security packages for 3 Ship-buildings and 7 axillary buildings such as offices, toilets, employee amenities, pump rooms and Main Switch Rooms. These important buildings will now support the continuous build programmes for Australian warships. Infrastructure development at the Osborne Naval Shipyard will modernise ship construction systems and processes in Australia to improve shipyard productivity and reduce the cost of Australian build programs. Our scope of works included:
This incredible new facility will be the centre of Australia’s largest ever shipbuilding program and the centre for thousands of new jobs for South Australians. ASC Shipbuilding will take control of the shipyard and start training their shipbuilders on the technology that has been installed for building warships efficiently and effectively. Construction of the first of nine Hunter class frigates is expected to begin on schedule in late 2022. This ship is expected to be delivered to Navy in 2029. The ninth and final Hunter class frigate is expected to be delivered to Navy in the mid-2040s. |
